Idea for character battle concept.


We previously posted an example of where a character battle would take place. Upon further consideration, we have decided how to combine gameplay with the design of said battles. If possible please reference the mood board and hand-sketched artwork previously uploaded. However, below will be the description:

  • Using pixel art design for already created characters, the pixel art will be converted into animated 2D sprites.
  • The artist battles will be conducted with a first person view with the enemy directly in front of the player.
  • The background will reflect the player's artist mode (how well the player has conducted their daily life will influence how strong their artwork is). This is reflected in the color palettes previously updated. (ex. If the player is struggling at life, the battle background will be dim and dark whereas, bright and vibrant backgrounds will indicate some success at daily life).
  • With regards to the entire battle sequence visual style, consider it a modified version of Undertale. (Gameplay-wise the battles will be simpler as there will either be a limited amount of minigames or none during the fight.)
  • The design of the "buttons" during the battle sequences will be a mix of simple boxes and something along the lines of Persona 5's battle menu.
  • Along with the battle background reflecting the success of the player's daily life, there will be basic landscapes in the background as well (inside of a subway car, a club/lounge with a stage in the back, an artist studio, some type of public plaza)
